Curbed National has recognized the renovated Ruskin Art Club at 800 S. Plymouth Bl. as one of 18 “most beautiful homes sold in 2014”. The Hands-Down Most Beautiful Houses for Sale in 2014 – Year in Curbed 2014 – Curbed National.

The Ruskin Art Club, Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #639,  designed by locally renowned architect Frank Meline, was built in 1922 by the Congregational Church Extension Society as a Sunday School Room and Parish House for the nearby church (now Wilshire United Methodist). It was sold in 1926 to the Ruskin Art Club, Los Angeles’ oldest cultural association.

After years of neglect, the building was sold last year to home renovation specialist Scott Lander. The unusual structure wraps around a central courtyard and features exposed beams and a Batchelder tile fireplace in the living room.

A before and after photo set of the renovated home can be viewed on Scott Lander’s site here: http://www.scottlanderdesign.com/portfolio/historic-ruskin-art-club/
